A FRESH PERSPECTIVE aSpring 2001 WITH SPRING NOW UPON US , we seem to have a fresh perspective on the world. And here at The Child’s Doctor, our special guest editor, Dr. Helen Binns, offers a fresh view of children’s health that takes us beyond the walls of the hospital and into home and community settings. In this issue are insightful articles that relate to various aspects of child health research: lead poisoning, severe childhood behavioral disorders, and violent injury. This research, and the interventions it makes possible, depend upon cooperation among families, physician offices, schools, and the community. These are all issues of great importance to Dr. Binns. An Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University, she is actively involved in lead poisoning prevention, treatment and research; the Pediatric Practice Research Group; and many other epidemiological and/or environmental projects. She is also Associate Director, Statistical Sciences and Epidemiology Program of the Children's Memorial Institute for Education and Research. In addition to the interesting articles, don’t miss the quizzes and the stamp column. |
